On November 18 and 19, 2024, the German Biochar Forum brought together experts, policymakers, and innovators in Berlin to advance the integration of Biochar Carbon Removal (BCR) into sustainability and climate strategies. With a diverse program of expert talks, panel discussions, workshops, and interactive formats like barcamps, the event offered a platform to explore cutting-edge developments in BCR.

As global climate goals demand both emissions reductions and carbon dioxide removal (CDR), BCR stands out as a scalable and mature technology. The forum emphasized the urgency of harmonizing frameworks for monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) while highlighting biochar’s versatility as a valuable product with growing market potential.
